A journalist covering United States politics has begun soliciting financial support through Patreon to fund independent coverage of the 2026 elections. The appeal, shared alongside a thread of political reporting, underscores how reporters are increasingly relying on direct reader funding as media outlets cut newsroom staff and reduce resources for campaign coverage ahead of the midterms.
Why now: Independent journalists are turning to reader-funded models to cover the 2026 US midterm elections as traditional newsroom resources shrink.
