Kuala Lumpur tops global pollution ranking amid haze crisis

Original: Kuala Lumpur is the world's most polluted city due to haze, Singapore third

Kuala Lumpur has been ranked the world's most polluted major city, with haze pushing its air quality to the worst level globally, according to an air quality index. Singapore ranked third on the same list. The annual transboundary haze, typically caused by forest and peatland fires in Indonesia, has once again blanketed parts of Southeast Asia, raising health concerns and prompting calls for regional action.

Why now: Severe seasonal haze has pushed air quality in both cities to alarmingly unhealthy levels, affecting residents and drawing regional attention.
