Original: 2026 Oregon Roadside Wildlife Count
Environment America is highlighting the 2026 Oregon Roadside Wildlife Count, an effort to track wildlife along the state's roads. Volunteers and observers record animal sightings to help understand roadkill patterns and inform measures such as wildlife crossings. The initiative draws attention to the impact of roads on Oregon's wildlife populations.
Why now: Wildlife conservation groups are promoting the annual count as a way to gather data on animals killed or spotted along Oregon roads.
