Original: Volkswagen terminates almost all collective wage agreements https:// lemmy.zip/post/72442577
Volkswagen has terminated almost all of its collective wage agreements with unions in Germany, a dramatic step in the company's restructuring drive. The move affects tens of thousands of workers and signals an escalation in the conflict between management and labour representatives over plant closures and job cuts. It is being discussed as a major blow to Germany's tradition of co-determination between employers and unions.
Why now: The termination of wage agreements marks an unprecedented escalation in Volkswagen's cost-cutting crisis and its dispute with German unions.
