Critics Pan Anne Hathaway Thriller 'Verity'
Original: ‘Verity’ Review: Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett Try and Fail to Slink Their Way Through a Dumb Mystery
The new film 'Verity', starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, is drawing scathing reviews. The Hollywood Reporter's critic calls it a "dumb mystery" that the star cast "try and fail" to carry, faulting the adaptation for implausible plotting despite its glossy thriller trappings and high-profile leads. The harsh verdict is fueling conversation as the film arrives, with moviegoers weighing whether the review reflects the film or overly lofty expectations.
Why now: A major new star-driven thriller is being released and the first high-profile review is strongly negative.
