Hegseth Speech Attacks Diversity, Transgender People, Press and Iran
Original: In Speech, Hegseth Targets Diversity, Transgender People, Reporters and Iran
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a speech taking aim at diversity initiatives, transgender service members, journalists and Iran, according to the New York Times. The remarks signal the Pentagon leadership's hardline cultural and foreign-policy stance, drawing criticism from opponents who see it as politicising the military while supporters applaud the confrontational message.
Why now: The defence secretary's combative remarks on hot-button social and foreign-policy issues are newly newsworthy.
