Troy Jackson Apologizes for Remarks on Jewish Mainers and Gaza
Original: Troy Jackson Apologizes for Generalizing Jewish Mainers' Views on Gaza https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/us/troy-jackso
Troy Jackson, a Maine political figure, has apologized after generalizing about the views of Jewish Mainers on the Gaza war. The remarks drew criticism for attributing a single stance to Jewish residents of the state on a deeply divisive conflict, prompting Jackson to issue a public apology reported by the New York Times on September 30, 2026.
Why now: His comments touched on the politically charged debate over Gaza and accusations of generalizing Jewish opinion.
