Computer program turns the 101 freeway into music

Original: 'The 101 Plays Itself': This computer program treats the interstate into music

A computer program generates music from traffic and data along the 101, the interstate highway in California, in a project called 'The 101 Plays Itself'. The work transforms the movement of the interstate into a continuous musical composition, blending technology, sound art and the everyday experience of driving one of the region's busiest freeways.

Why now: People are drawn to the unusual idea of a busy freeway being turned into a living musical piece.
