'Verity' eyes $35 million debut as Anne Hathaway targets third 2025 No. 1

Original: Box Office: ‘Verity’ Aims for $35 Million Debut and Anne Hathaway’s Third No. 1 Movie of the Year, ‘Digger’ Could Bomb With $12 Million

The adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 'Verity' is tracking toward a roughly $35 million opening weekend, which would make it Anne Hathaway's third film to top the North American box office this year. Meanwhile, the thriller 'Digger' is projected to open at around $12 million, a weak result that industry observers describe as a likely bomb.

Why now: Weekend box office projections and Anne Hathaway's unusual run of three No. 1 films in one year are drawing attention.
