Ousted Bashir's family denies approval for medical travel abroad
Original: Ousted Bashir’s family says no official green light for medical travel abroad
The family of Sudan's ousted former ruler Omar al-Bashir says it has received no official authorisation for him to travel abroad for medical treatment, according to the Sudan Tribune. The statement suggests that despite earlier reports a departure was imminent, formal clearance from Sudanese authorities has not been granted, leaving questions over the former president's whereabouts and health unanswered.
Why now: Conflicting reports over whether Sudan's deposed leader can leave the country for treatment are drawing attention to his fate and the authorities' stance.
