Dumb servers, smart clients: Distributing OS images with Quarry
A new write-up introduces Quarry, a system for distributing OS images that puts most of the work on the client side, keeping servers deliberately simple. The approach is drawing attention among developers interested in infrastructure and package distribution, with discussion centring on whether offloading logic to clients is a practical design for large-scale image delivery.
Why now: The post was recently shared on a popular developer discussion forum and is generating engagement over its novel client-heavy design.
