Manchester City sponsor Etihad threatens legal action against Premier League
Etihad Airways, Manchester City's principal sponsor, has threatened legal action against the Premier League, according to a report in The Times. The move escalates the ongoing dispute over the league's associated party transaction rules, which govern commercial deals between clubs and companies linked to their owners. Etihad's involvement adds a major commercial partner to a conflict that has already drawn scrutiny of City's finances.
Why now: It escalates the high-profile dispute between Manchester City and the Premier League by pulling in one of the club's biggest sponsors.
