Man City sponsor Etihad weighing legal action against Premier League
Original: City sponsor Etihad Airways considering legal action against the Premier League
Etihad Airways, the Abu Dhabi airline and long-standing Manchester City shirt sponsor, is considering legal action against the Premier League, the Guardian reports. The move would escalate the fallout from the league's associated-party transaction rules, which came under scrutiny during Manchester City's legal challenge and have strained relations between the club's commercial partners and English football's top flight.
Why now: Tensions over the Premier League's sponsorship rules involving Manchester City have intensified, putting a major commercial partner on a potential collision course with the league.
