Climate activists urged to move beyond big protests toward building autonomy

Climate and urbanist activists are debating a shift from event-based activism—large demonstrations and big actions—toward sustained relationship-building and practical preparation. The argument holds that organizing around food and energy autonomy is the core of prepping together and a concrete step toward a resilient future, even if it is harder for activists used to mass mobilization.
Why now: Debate within climate movements over whether local, autonomy-building work matters more than large-scale protest tactics.
