SpaceX Starship Reaches Orbit on First Try, Then Returns Early
Original: SpaceX's Giant Starship Rocket Reached Earth Orbit on Its First Try, but Engine Problems Forced It to Return to the Planet Early
SpaceX's giant Starship rocket reached Earth orbit on its first attempt, a milestone for the company's next-generation launch vehicle. However, engine problems forced the spacecraft to cut its mission short and return to Earth earlier than planned. The flight marks a significant step forward for Starship despite the technical issues that ended the mission prematurely.
Why now: A first-attempt orbital flight by SpaceX's largest rocket, combined with the dramatic early return due to engine failures, is major space news.
