Swiss FA withdraws support for FIFA chief Infantino

Original: gianni infantino

The Swiss Football Association has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential elections, leaving the long-serving president without backing from his home federation. The move comes amid growing friction, with FIFA accusing UEFA of running a disinformation campaign against Infantino, who has ordered an audit of FIFA's financial reserves. The election race is shaping up as increasingly contentious.

Why now: Infantino losing the backing of his own national federation ahead of the FIFA presidential election is a significant political blow.
