Migrant tells Italian ticket inspector he will not pay fare
Original: #Italy: news from the colorful and diverse Italian Republic. Illegal migrant says to ticket inspector: "I am an immigran
In Italy, an incident is circulating in which a migrant without valid papers allegedly told a ticket inspector he did not need to buy a ticket because he is an immigrant. The exchange has been shared with sarcasm about the state of Europe, with commenters framing it as a sign that enforcement of rules and immigration controls has broken down across the EU.
Why now: It feeds into ongoing European debates about illegal immigration and whether migrants are held to the same rules as everyone else.
