Volkswagen moves to scrap nearly all collective agreements with IG Metall

Original: ig metall vw

Volkswagen has announced it is terminating almost all collective agreements with the IG Metall union, a dramatic escalation in the dispute over the German carmaker's restructuring plans. The move threatens decades of established wage and working-condition arrangements at VW's German plants. IG Metall and works council leaders are pushing back hard, warning of open conflict if the company abandons the negotiated framework.

Why now: The termination of collective bargaining agreements is an unprecedented escalation in a major German industrial dispute over job cuts and restructuring at Volkswagen.
