Whitney Museum Shows the Art of Minnie Evans
Original: ‘The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans’ Review: Creative Abundance at the Whitney
The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York is presenting 'The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans', an exhibition reviewed by the Wall Street Journal as a display of creative abundance. Evans, a self-taught Black artist from North Carolina known for visionary, mystical drawings, receives a major institutional survey that brings her lush, symbol-filled work to a wider audience.
Why now: A major museum survey is giving long-overdue recognition to an under-recognised self-taught artist.
