New robot flies, sails and swims autonomously
Original: Transformative new robot that can fly, sail, and swim autonomously
A new multi-modal robot has been unveiled that can fly through the air, sail on the water's surface, and swim underwater, all without human control. The machine's ability to switch autonomously between air and aquatic environments marks a notable step in robotics, with potential uses ranging from environmental monitoring to search-and-rescue missions.
Why now: The combination of flying, sailing and swimming in one autonomous robot is an unusual engineering achievement drawing attention.
