Senate Passes Aviation Mental Health Reform Bill
The US Senate has passed an aviation mental health reform bill, according to aviation industry reporting. The legislation is aimed at how mental health is handled for pilots and aviation professionals, a long-standing concern after cases of pilots grounded or discouraged from seeking help over disclosure rules. Further details on the bill's provisions and its path in the House were not provided in the available reporting.
Why now: Lawmakers acted on long-running concerns that mental health disclosure rules push pilots to hide problems rather than seek treatment.
