Lux Optics has released a new update to Halide, its manually focused camera app for iPhone and iPad that positions itself as an alternative to Apple's algorithm-driven default camera. The update introduces two new photography looks and adds support for the variable aperture on the main camera of the new iPhone 18 Pro, letting photographers take fuller advantage of the hardware.

Why now: The new iPhone 18 Pro's variable aperture is prompting third-party camera apps to add support, drawing attention from photography enthusiasts.
