Afghanistan says forces killed 41 insurgents crossing from Pakistan
Original: Afghanistan’s defense ministry claims forces killed 41 insurgents crossing from Pakistan
Afghanistan's defense ministry says its forces killed 41 insurgents who were crossing the border from Pakistan. The claim, reported by AP News, could not be independently verified and Pakistan has not responded in the reported material. It comes amid persistent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over border security and mutual accusations of harboring militant groups along the porous frontier.
Why now: Ongoing Afghanistan-Pakistan border tensions make any reported cross-border clash between the two neighbors newsworthy.
