Trump administration cancels millions in 'woke' education funding

Original: "The Trump administration has canceled millions of dollars in congressionally approved spending on what it called “woke”

The Trump administration has canceled millions of dollars in congressionally approved spending on what it called 'woke' international-education programs. The last-minute rescission strips nearly all funding for teaching, research, and academic centers focused on foreign languages and world areas, bypassing lawmakers who had already allocated the money. Critics say the move undermines higher education and congressional authority, while supporters frame it as cutting wasteful ideological spending.

Why now: A politically charged funding cut affecting universities and foreign-language programs is drawing backlash and debate over presidential power.
