D'Angelo Russell leaves NBA for China move

Original: Ex-Lakers star D’Angelo Russell leaves NBA for surprising China opportunity

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell is leaving the NBA to sign with a club in China, according to reports from US outlets. The move is being called a surprising turn for the 29-year-old, an NBA All-Star who had been a rotation player in the league. It reflects a broader trend of established NBA players taking lucrative contracts overseas, particularly with Chinese Basketball Association teams.

Why now: A recognizable former All-Star point guard walking away from the NBA for China is an unexpected move during the offseason news cycle.
