English cricketers are being urged to reconsider taking part in an Afghan T20 tournament, according to BBC Sport. The calls raise questions about the appropriateness of players joining the competition given the ongoing controversy over the Taliban's restrictions on women in Afghanistan and the sport's response to them. Debate is focused on whether participation would undermine efforts to pressure the Afghan cricket authorities.
Why now: Ongoing controversy over Afghanistan's Taliban rulers and the treatment of women's cricket has put player participation in Afghan tournaments under scrutiny.
