Jeffries opposes calls to abolish ICE
Original: Jeffries opposes abolishing ICE
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has said he does not support abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, pushing back against a demand long championed by the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. His stance has drawn criticism from left-wing activists while highlighting an ongoing divide within the party over immigration enforcement policy.
Why now: His break with progressive Democrats on ICE exposes an internal party rift on immigration.
