US pulls forces from Iraq bases, Iran tensions in focus
Original: iran usa
The United States has begun withdrawing its forces from bases in Iraq, a move reported on Tuesday that analysts warn could leave a security vacuum that terror groups may exploit. The withdrawal is being closely watched for its implications for the balance of power with Iran, with commentators debating whether reduced US presence in the region will embolden Tehran-aligned militias.
Why now: Ongoing US-Iran tensions make any American military drawdown in the region major breaking news.
