UK PM Burnham reopens debate on rejoining EU
Original: UK PM Burnham reopens divisive debate on rejoining EU
UK Prime Minister Burnham has reignited the divisive question of whether Britain should seek to rejoin the European Union, a move that revives one of the most polarising issues in British politics since Brexit. The statement is drawing attention across Europe and prompting renewed debate over the UK's future relationship with the bloc.
Why now: A UK prime minister openly reopening EU rejoining talks breaks with the post-Brexit political consensus and is highly contentious.
