Celebration as diverse candidates win big in US midterms
Original: Indigene, # frauen , # muslime , # linke , # pocpeoples und # queer übernehmen die # usa in den # midterms !!!! Das muss
Supporters of progressive movements are celebrating the US midterm election results, arguing that Indigenous people, women, Muslims, leftists, people of colour and queer candidates are taking over American politics. The mood online is triumphant, with one widely shared German-language message claiming the result must be painful for the far right, including Germany's AfD and the Union parties, while offering hope to others. Some commentators suggest the outcome could inspire similar political momentum in Berlin.
Why now: The US midterm results are being read internationally as a victory for minority and progressive representation.
