A Vlaams Belang municipal councillor in Belgium has caused a scandal after appearing nude on a dating television programme. The politician conceded that taking part was not 'the most judicious' decision and admitted he had not informed his party before joining the show. The episode has drawn ridicule and embarrassed the far-right party, whose officials were reportedly unaware of his participation until it aired.
Why now: The contrast between the party's conservative image and the councillor's nude TV appearance is prompting mockery and political embarrassment.
