Latvia's ice hockey governing body has announced that Latvian teams will not compete against Russian teams, rejecting attempts by Russia to return to international competitions. The federation said the boycott will remain in place as long as the war Russia started in Ukraine continues. The decision underscores the continued isolation of Russian sport in the region.

Why now: Russia has been lobbying to rejoin international sporting competitions while the war in Ukraine continues.
