House Democrats prepare investigations into Trump Administration
Original: Democrats in House poised to investigate the Trump Administration, taking up a long-standing power GOP-led Congress ignored for the past two years
Democrats in the US House of Representatives are preparing to launch investigations into the Trump Administration, using oversight powers that the Republican-led Congress largely left unused for the past two years. The shift in House control means committee subpoena powers and hearing agendas now turn to scrutiny of the administration, reviving a congressional oversight role that had been dormant since Democrats last held the chamber.
Why now: Control of the House has changed hands, giving Democrats the power to subpoena and investigate the administration for the first time in two years.
