First cars for learning stick shift spark nostalgia
Original: First cars for learning stick shift
Drivers are sharing the vehicles they first learned to drive a manual transmission in, swapping stories of stalling, jerky starts and patient parents in empty parking lots. The conversation mixes nostalgia with debate, as manual cars fade from new-car showrooms and younger drivers increasingly never learn stick shift at all.
Why now: Manual transmissions are becoming rare, prompting drivers to reminisce about learning to drive stick.
