Meta has confirmed that the Quest 2, its best-selling VR headset to date, will receive its final major system update in early 2027. After that, Meta will stop developing new system features for the device, effectively winding down software support for the hardware that popularized consumer VR.
Why now: The end of updates for the most popular VR headset affects many current owners and signals Meta shifting focus to newer hardware.
