Original: dustin hoffman
Dustin Hoffman has revealed that during the making of "The Graduate", director Mike Nichols had co-star Katharine Ross slap him 27 times for a scene. Hoffman said "a certain sadism seemed to creep in" on set, describing the repeated takes as difficult. The anecdote is drawing renewed attention to the classic 1967 film and to broader conversations about directing methods and on-set treatment of actors.
Why now: Hoffman's candid new remarks about his difficult experience filming "The Graduate" are circulating widely.
