"Mogging": the slang word entering the mainstream
Original: mogging
The slang term "mogging" — internet shorthand for outshining someone in looks, style or presence — is gaining wider attention in Britain, with The Times listing it among candidate words of 2026 alongside newer coinages like "friendslop". Originally from gym and looksmaxxing subcultures, the word is now cropping up in everyday online conversation, prompting coverage of what it means and how quickly such terms spread.
Why now: A major newspaper featuring it in a words-of-the-year list is pushing the niche slang into mainstream discussion.
