Russian Embassy in Ireland issues nuclear threat over Kaliningrad blockade
Original: Russian Embassy in Ireland threatened with nuclear weapons in case of Kaliningrad blockade
The Russian Embassy in Ireland has warned that any blockade of Kaliningrad could trigger a nuclear response. The statement, reported by Belarusian outlet Nasha Niva, escalates already high tensions between Moscow and NATO members over access to the Russian exclave, which is surrounded by EU states Lithuania and Poland.
Why now: Ongoing Russia-NATO tensions over Kaliningrad transit routes have made any nuclear rhetoric from Moscow highly alarming.
