Hikers fall short of Pen yr Ole Wen summit as weather closes in

A hillwalker has shared images from an ascent of Pen yr Ole Wen in Snowdonia, part of a year-long daily photo project. The hiker reported covering about 80% of the climb before turning back: a late start, short winter daylight, biting wind and approaching bad weather made the summit unsafe to attempt, so the group played it safe and enjoyed the views.
Why now: Winter conditions and short days in Snowdonia are prompting walkers to share cautious summit decisions and mountain scenery.
