Opinion: Elizabeth Holmes's crimes worse than internet admits
Original: OPINION: The crimes of Elizabeth Holmes are more dangerous than the internet wants to admit
A new opinion piece argues that the crimes committed by Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos convicted of fraud over false claims about her company's blood-testing technology, are more dangerous than online discussion is willing to acknowledge. The author suggests public fascination with Holmes, including sympathetic portrayals and memes, risks downplaying the seriousness of deceiving patients and investors in healthcare.
Why now: Ongoing public fascination with Holmes and debate over how seriously her fraud should be treated keep the story in circulation.
