Plumbers union leader urges ongoing mental health conversations

Original: Looking out for our UA Brothers and Sisters means looking out for their mental health. As General President Mark McManus reminds us, it’s a conversation we must keep having on the jobsite, in our locals, and at home. #MentalHealthMonday

Mark McManus, General President of the United Association union representing plumbers and pipefitters, is calling on members to keep mental health an open topic on job sites, in local union halls, and at home. The message, shared under the Mental Health Monday banner, stresses that looking out for fellow union members means looking out for their psychological wellbeing, not just their physical safety.

Why now: The union leadership is using the Mental Health Monday awareness campaign to push mental health into a traditionally tough, male-dominated trade culture.
