Yomiuri Giants pitcher Morimoto retires after release notice

Original: 巨人戦力外

The Yomiuri Giants have informed left-handed pitcher Tetsusei Morimoto that he will be released, and he has announced his retirement from professional baseball. Morimoto, a former Ichikawa Municipal Funabashi High School pitcher who reached the national summer tournament at Koshien with the so-called 'Morimoto Twins' battery, ends his career after the club's roster cut announcement.

Why now: The Giants' player release announcements are a routine but emotionally charged part of the Japanese baseball offseason, drawing attention to players' careers ending.
