Original: uk immigration rules
UK immigration rules are back in focus after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said skilled migrants must contribute more than they cost, signalling a stricter approach to settlement and eligibility. The comments come amid ongoing debate over rising migration pressures and the government's wider review of the points-based system, with critics and supporters arguing over whether the rhetoric marks genuine policy change.
Why now: The Home Secretary's remarks signal a possible tightening of UK immigration policy that affects skilled workers and employers.
