Patrick Stewart and the ethics of power

Original: Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power Article URL: https://www. vox.com/politics/508526/patric k-stewart

A Vox essay argues that Patrick Stewart, through his portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, offered a model of how good men should exercise power: with restraint, humility, principle and respect for others. The piece ties Picard's liberal, diplomatic leadership style to contemporary political debates about authority and masculinity. Readers online are debating whether the character remains a relevant moral touchstone.

Why now: Discussions about leadership and abuses of power in current politics are driving reflection on Picard as a counterexample.
