Original: Landline phones will switch off across Britland in 100 days, no extensions Article URL: https://www. theregister.com/net
The UK's old copper landline phone network is due to be switched off in roughly 100 days, with Openreach confirming there will be no further extensions to the deadline. Households and businesses still relying on traditional phone lines will need to move to internet-based calling, raising concerns about elderly and vulnerable users and those without reliable broadband.
Why now: The final countdown to a long-planned deadline affecting millions of phone users is imminent and no delays are being offered.
