Sat.1 trims flagship newscast in evening schedule shake-up

Original: sat 1

German broadcaster Sat.1 is restructuring its early-evening lineup, cutting the main edition of its 'Newstime' news programme. The move comes amid wider changes at the channel, including a new film series with lawyer Ingo Lenßen, who says one case 'would not leave him alone'. The news follows reports that several German TV channels are ending their Teletext services after 40 years, as broadcasters trim costs and reshape traditional programming.

Why now: Sat.1's scheduling and cost-cutting changes to long-running TV formats are drawing attention in the German media landscape.
