Why game studios are hiring Southeast Asian artists over AI

Original: Humans vs AI art: why game studios hire Southeast Asian talent

Game studios are increasingly turning to artists in Southeast Asia rather than relying on AI-generated art, according to the South China Morning Post. The region's large pool of skilled, cost-effective illustrators and animators offers quality and creative flexibility that current AI tools cannot match, making countries like the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia attractive outsourcing hubs for studios weighing humans against automation.

Why now: Ongoing industry debate over AI replacing human artists is drawing attention to alternatives like outsourcing to Southeast Asia.
