ZDF chief says Böhmermann's show may be too fanatical

Original: norbert himmler

Norbert Himmler, the ZDF director (Intendant), publicly remarked that Jan Böhmermann's satirical programme may be 'perhaps too fanatical', according to Spiegel. The comment from the head of the German public broadcaster about one of its best-known satirists has drawn attention, touching on ongoing debate about the role and tone of political satire in public broadcasting.

Why now: A public broadcaster's own director openly criticising a flagship satirist sparks debate about satire and ZDF's editorial direction.
