Openreach to switch off UK landline network with no extensions
Original: Landline phones will switch off across Britland in 100 days, no extensions – Openreach
Openreach says the UK's legacy landline phone network will be switched off in 100 days, with no further extensions. The old public switched telephone network service is being retired on January 31, 2027, forcing remaining users onto internet-based phone services. The confirmation that no more delays will be granted is likely to concern households and businesses still relying on copper landlines.
Why now: The final deadline with no extensions means millions of landline users must migrate now, raising concerns for elderly and rural customers.
