HackerTube: a YouTube clone built from Hacker News video picks
Original: HackerTube: YouTube clone based on whatever videos have been recommended on Hacker News (karpathy.bearblog.dev) https://
A developer has launched HackerTube, a YouTube-style video site that curates only the videos that have been recommended or shared on Hacker News. The project is described in a blog post by Andrej Karpathy, who explains how the community-sourced feed filters out low-quality content. Tech commenters are sharing the project widely and debating whether community curation can replace algorithmic recommendations.
Why now: The novelty of a community-curated alternative to YouTube's recommendation algorithm is drawing attention among programmers.
